Imports¶
Import leads turns a CSV file into a clean, reusable lead list in three focused steps: upload the file, map its columns, then review the rows and save them into a list. Your file is stored privately while you work, and no lead is created or changed until you commit and save. Your progress is saved as you go, so you can close the browser and resume later from Imports.
Who can use this¶
Owners and managers.
Before you start¶
- A CSV file (comma or semicolon separated, up to 25 MB) with at least an email address column. Select Download template on the import screen for a ready-made example.
- Optional: a lead list to add the leads to. You can also create a new list while saving.
Key concepts¶
The import flow¶
Fields you can map¶
Email Address (Required), First Name, Last Name, Full Name (split into first and last), Company Name, Job Title, Website, Phone Number, City, State / Province, Country, Postal / Zip Code, Industry, Source / Profile URL, Notes, Tags (comma-separated). Any other column can become a Custom field, which you can use as a personalization variable later, or be set to Ignore this column.
Handling leads you already have¶
When a row's email already exists in your workspace, choose under Existing lead handling:
| Option | What happens |
|---|---|
| Keep existing | Leave the saved lead unchanged. |
| Fill missing details | Only add blank fields from this file. |
| Use CSV details | Apply the mapped values from this file. |
Import statuses¶
On Imports you will see: Ready to continue, Mapped, Reviewed, Queued, Finalizing, Completed, Completed with issues, Needs attention, Discarded and Expired.
How to import a CSV¶
- Open Leads Sheet and select Import CSV (or Upload CSV on Imports).
- Upload file: choose your CSV or drop it on the page, then select Continue to mapping.
- Map columns: for each CSV header, choose the Lead field. Columns you don't need can stay Skipped. Make sure one column is mapped to the email address. Select Continue to Commit & save.
- Commit & save (review): check the rows. Use All, Duplicates and Suppressed to focus, and Search rows to find one.
- Rows marked Needs attention must be fixed before saving: select Edit, correct the value, then Save & re-check.
- Export issues downloads the rows that need attention.
- Select Commit & save. In Save to a lead list:
- Under Where should these leads go?, choose New list (type a name) or Existing list.
- Choose the Existing lead handling option.
- Confirm with Save N leads.
- Cadensiq saves the leads in the background. Each row shows its outcome (Added, Updated, Kept, Skipped). You can leave the page; progress continues.
How to resume or review an import¶
- Open Leads Sheet → Import history (the Imports page).
- Search by file name or filter by status.
- Choose Resume for a saved draft, View progress while saving, Review issues for an import that needs attention, or View results when it has finished.
How to handle partial results¶
If some rows could not be saved, the import shows Saved with some issues or Some rows need attention:
- Retry unfinished rows tries the remaining rows again.
- Use successful leads accepts what was saved so far, so the list becomes available to campaigns.
How to discard an import¶
On Imports, choose Discard draft on an import that has not been saved. Your leads are not affected.
Rules to know¶
- A row needs a valid email address. "Missing email" rows can't be saved until fixed.
- You can't commit while any row still needs attention, and at least one ready row is required.
- Suppressed addresses (unsubscribed or hard-bounced) stay suppressed even if they appear in a new file.
- A list that is still saving shows as Importing and can't be chosen as a campaign audience until it is ready.
- Starting an import from a campaign saves the campaign as a draft first and brings you back to it afterwards. An import never launches a campaign.
What happens next¶
- The leads appear in the Leads Sheet with the status New, and the list becomes Ready.
- You get a notification when the import completes, completes with issues, or fails.
Common questions¶
| Symptom | Cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Continue to Commit & save isn't available | No column is mapped to the email address | Map the email column. |
| "Resolve N rows needing attention before saving." | Some rows have problems | Use Edit on each, or fix the file and upload again. |
| The import stays Queued or Finalizing for a while | Large files are saved in batches | Leave it running; check Imports later. |
| The import shows Expired | An unsaved draft was left too long | Upload the file again. |
