Audience

The Audience step decides who receives a campaign. You choose one or more saved lead lists; Cadensiq takes a snapshot of their current members, removes anyone who must not be contacted, and tells you exactly how many people are eligible. It also shows which personalization fields your audience has, so you can decide what to do when a recipient is missing one.

Who can use this

Owners and managers create, edit and launch campaigns. Members can open finished and in-progress campaigns to review them, but can't change them.

Before you start

At least one lead list that is Ready. If you have none, select Create audience list on this step to go to the importer (the campaign is saved as a draft first and you come back to it afterwards).

Key concepts

Selected vs eligible

The audience summary reads, for example, 250 selected · 238 eligible to contact · 9 suppressed · 3 duplicates.

Term Meaning
Selected Everyone in the lists you chose.
Eligible to contact People this campaign will actually email.
Suppressed People who unsubscribed, hard-bounced or are otherwise blocked by safety rules. They are never emailed.
Duplicates The same email address in more than one selected list. Each person is emailed once.

A recipient is eligible when they have a valid email address and are not suppressed. Missing optional details, such as city or country, never make someone ineligible on their own.

The audience is a snapshot

Cadensiq copies the list members into the campaign. Later changes to the list do not silently change the campaign. If you change the audience, the campaign's prepared messages are rebuilt before launch.

Personalization rules

If your email uses a field that some recipients don't have (for example {{city}}), Cadensiq shows Review personalization with the number of optional fields that need a decision. For each one, choose:

  • Use a fallback: a safe value to use when the field is empty, for example your area.
  • Exclude recipients when this value is missing: leave those people out of this campaign.

When every field has a rule, the notice shows Personalization ready.

How to choose an audience

  1. In the campaign, go to Audience.
  2. Select Choose lead lists, search if needed, tick one or more lists, then select Done.
  3. Check the summary under Campaign audience. Select Change lists to adjust.
  4. Select Continue to Objective.

How to set personalization rules

  1. On the Email & Personalization step, select Review personalization when it appears.
  2. For each field, type a fallback or tick the exclusion option.
  3. Select Done. The rules are applied when recipient messages are prepared.

Rules to know

  • You can't continue until at least one eligible recipient is selected.
  • Lists that are still importing show "This list is still being prepared" and become available automatically when the import finishes.
  • You can change the audience while the campaign is a draft. After that, use Edit before approval.
  • A fallback for a web-address field must be a full link starting with http:// or https://.

What happens next

When you launch, Cadensiq prepares one message per eligible recipient per step, using your fallbacks and exclusions. No message ever goes out with an empty {{field}} placeholder.
